The "facile" rapidity that lends charm to Luca Albino's numerous landscapes of the Amalfi Coast should not be misleading. In this view of a street in Ravello, his pictorial skill emerges through a play of sonorous contrasts. Moving from typical late 19th-century compositions—influenced by the teachings of Vincenzo Migliaro—Luca Albino’s painting reached, by the late 1930s, an expansion of form. This is characterized by a nervous brushwork applied in small touches—also found in the works From Ravello, Ravello, and L’Annunziata in Ravello (entries 15, 20 and 40) — which reveals a new, more abrupt, and modern sensitivity in his depiction of the landscape.
