A student of Filippo Palizzi and Domenico Morelli, Giuseppe Aprea translated the legacy of his masters into a language of modern and immediate expressiveness. In this figure of a young woman in a garden, the exceptional pictorial quality introduces a clear adherence to the "Novecento" climate, placing the artist on the opposite side of the established 19th-century tradition embodied by Clemente Tafuri. The work is distinguished by a chromatic research focused on sudden bursts of whites and greens, where fragmented light constructs space and figure through a bold formal synthesis, marking a break from the descriptive naturalism of previous decades.
