Trained at the Naples Institute of Fine Arts under Domenico Morelli, Caprile preferred the formal synthesis and immediacy of the Portici painters to the "poeticized painting" of his master, particularly influenced by Federico Rossano and Alceste Campriani. In this view of Positano beach, dating to the last decade of the century, his "austere" materialism derived from Filippo Palizzi emerges: an analytical method, indebted to the positivism dominant in 19th-century European culture, which translates into a methodical and precise technical uniformity. Through a luminous brushwork influenced by the brilliance of Spanish painters such as Martín Rico, the work bears witness to his ability to capture an image of nature through a calm and objective narrative.
