Trained in Maiori under Gaetano Capone, Antonio Ferrigno developed an approach that moved beyond the straightforward observation of "reality" typical of the previous generation. In this painting from the early 1930s, the structure of the image marks the emergence of an oblique and divergent perspective, capable of expanding proportions and revealing the landscape's inherent spontaneity. The work reflects the maturity achieved following his return from Brazil in 1905: the realism of his early years gives way to compositions of Divisionist ancestry and 20th-century influences. Through a rich chromatic palette, Ferrigno moves beyond the traditional perspective of 19th-century realism to emphasize the luminous depth of the view, presenting an image informed by his international experiences.
